At the end of September, the Ribnjak Youth Center hosted a workshop titled Image Space and Performativity in a Digital Environment, led by visual artist Mario Mu. In this workshop, students from the School of Design at the Faculty of Architecture and the Department of Animation and New Media at the Academy of Fine Arts were introduced to the basics of creating digital and virtual spaces. Through various spatial examples from video games, theater, and film, the students, under the guidance of the artist Mario Mu, explored the possibilities of built environments using digital tools.
Using 3D modeling and video game design software, they constructed a platform for spatial, performative, and visual practices, while also learning about different strategies for curating and presenting content in digital spaces. Understanding the space of the image and performativity in the digital realm leads us toward a series of political and social interactions that can be articulated through the construction of temporary, open platforms.
The event was part of the Prakse brige program, funded through a special public call for Culture and Art in the Community by the City of Zagreb.
