The creative writing workshop Writing-Breathing, led by WHW member Ana Dević as part of the Neighbourhood in Practice programme, was held in collaboration between WHW and the Medveščak Home for Older Persons, located at Ibler Square 3 in Zagreb. The workshop took place over two sessions, held on Wednesdays, 15 and 22 April 2026, and was intended for senior residents of the Medveščak Home.
The programme offered participants an opportunity for creative expression and connection through poetry. Through writing and the shared reading of texts, the workshop explored themes of breathing, inner and outer perspectives, memory, everyday experiences, relationships to the body and space, as well as the importance of silence and listening. Through various poetic exercises, the workshop encouraged participants to express and share their own stories, creating space for mutual understanding, the exchange of experiences, and collective creation. Special emphasis was placed on the connection between writing and breathing as a way of slowing down and discovering new forms of expression.
The workshop is part of the Neighbourhood in Practice programme, funded through the City of Zagreb’s special public call Culture and Art in the Community, implemented by WHW.
