The START SOLO exhibition series was realized through an open call, being a kind of continuation of the call announced in 2002 for the START exhibition, which was set up in the Karas Gallery in Zagreb and in the Municipal Gallery in Ljubljana. The calls for START and START SOLO were not thematically determined, but with an open concept, they tried to appeal to a wide circle of already active artists of a younger generation. With the concept of the open call and the selection of works, we tried to give an impetus to the creation and presentation of the artistic production of younger artists in which the position of art and the exhibition concept of the isolated museum “white cube” are critically reflected upon, different social spaces and structures are explored, and one’s own status is questioned within different networks of systems and interrelationships.
