Marko Tadić presented a sound installation and the project Concrète machines (13 pieces for Prvomajska), which he realized as part of the exhibition On the backs of fallen giants in collaboration with musician Miro Manojlović. Tadić talked about how the installation revived the premises of the closed Prvomajska factory in Krapan, for a couple of hours. Through their project, sound and noise were returned to that impressive industrial space that once fed, educated and united a community of workers and their families.

Marko Tadić lives and works in Zagreb. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence. He exhibited at individual and group exhibitions and film festivals in Croatia and abroad, in venues in Zagreb, Ljubljana, Vienna, Kassel, Berlin, Los Angeles and New York. He is the winner of a number of awards and has participated in numerous residencies and study programs. He currently teaches at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb and at NABA (Nuova Accademia di belle arti) in Milan. Together with Tina Gverović, he represented Croatia at the 57th Venice Biennale in 2017.

The event is a part of the presentation of the 2nd Biennale of Industrial Art (20/07 – 28/10/2018) entitled On the back of fallen giants, curated by the collective What, how and for whom / WHW. It was co-organized by Labin Art Express XXI, in cooperation with MMSU Rijeka and the Archaeological Museum of Istria, as part of the Rijeka 2020 – European Capital of Culture.
