We\u2019re pleased to announce the launch of the fourth edition of WHW Akademija,<\/strong> focused on the notion of artistic ecologies.<\/p>\n

This year, WHW Akademija received a record number of over 300 inspiring applications from around the world. The 2022 program includes twelve participants: Darko Aleksovski<\/a> (Veles), \u017deljko Beljan<\/a> (Zagreb\/Vukovar), Diana Cantarey<\/a> (Amsterdam\/Mexico City), Adrijana Gvozdenovi\u0107<\/a> (Podgorica), Maksym Khodak<\/a> (Kyiv), Nade\u017eda Kir\u0107anski <\/a>(Belgrade), Stela Mikulin<\/a> (Zapre\u0161i\u0107), Ruoru Mou<\/a> (London\/Florence), Kristina Pashkova<\/a> (Moscow), Christian Sleiman<\/a> (Beirut), Bojan Stoj\u010di\u0107<\/a> (Sarajevo), and Huda Takriti<\/a> (Vienna\/Damascus).<\/p>\n

Members of the professorial team are: Ivana Bago<\/strong>, Zbyn\u011bk Baladr\u00e1n<\/strong>, Tim Etchells<\/strong>, Vlatka Horvat<\/strong>, Pablo Mart\u00ednez<\/strong>, and Daniela Ortiz<\/strong>, as well as Yael Davids, iLiana Fokianaki<\/strong>, and Leire Vergara<\/strong>, <\/em><\/strong>who are participating in the public program Evenings with WHW Akademija<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The fourth edition of WHW Akademija<\/strong> sets up a model that combines online and offline encounters to explore participatory modes of artistic and knowledge production.<\/p>\n

Vlatka Horvat<\/a> will explore dialogic encounters through her BETWEEN US online seminar in April and continuing during the summer school in Zagreb, spanning solo and two-person performative tasks, collaborative assignments, rule- and chance-based frameworks and structures for improvisation, and practical problem-solving. Pablo Mart\u00ednez<\/a>\u2019s summer school seminar, Exercises of Institutional Imagination: Toward an Eco-socialist Museum<\/em>, will discuss the possibilities of the eco-social museum as well as the limits and unsustainability of the modern cultural paradigm. This year\u2019s resident professor is <\/strong>Ivana Bago<\/a>, whose tenure will begin with a summer school mentoring program titled Back to Square Zero<\/em>, developed in collaboration with the participants. The program will also include an April masterclass with Tim Etchells<\/a>, based on a set of exercises,experiments, and conversations focused on making, observing, and refining thepossibilities of performance improvisation. Two shorter seminars will be led by Daniela Ortiz<\/a> in June and Zbyn\u011bk Baladr\u00e1n<\/a> in September. The program runs until November 2022.<\/p>\n

WHW Akademija<\/strong> is realized in partnership with the Kontakt Art Collection<\/strong><\/a>, focused on experimental and neo-avant-garde art activities in Central, Eastern, and Southeastern Europe from the late 1950s onward. The manifold artistic positions included in the Kontakt Art Collection serve as one of the foundations for the WHW Akademija <\/strong>curriculum.<\/p>\n
