ERSTE Foundation<\/strong> offers fourteen fellowships for young artists and emerging curators from Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia <\/strong>and Ukraine<\/strong> to take part in a two-week course of their choice at the International Summer Academy of Fine Arts in Salzburg 2026.<\/p>\n

The Fellowships for Curators and Artists at the International Summer Academy of Fine Arts in Salzburg are part of ERSTE Foundation<\/a>\u2019s educational program and its long-term endeavour to support and strengthen contemporary art especially in the region of Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe. The fellowship program is realized together with ERSTE Foundation\u2019s long-time cooperation partners from tranzit<\/a>, Igor Zabel Association<\/a> and Kontakt Collection<\/a>. Kontakt Collection collaborates with the Zagreb based WHW Akademija<\/a>.<\/p>\n

We would like to express our solidarity with Ukraine and the people who have to endure or flee from the ongoing war there. Therefore, we open this program to Ukrainian artists as well and dedicate two fellowships to them.<\/p>\n

Every summer some 300 students from more than 50 countries  participate in around 20 classes at the Salzburg Summer Academy. Well-known artists, curators and critics from all over the world offer courses focusing on topical questions of art production, as well as curatorial practice and writing about art.<\/p>\n

Participants may choose a one- or two-week course from the Academy\u2019s rich programme, taking place between 20 July and 29 August 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The jury to nominate the fourteen participants is formed together with representatives from tranzit, Igor Zabel Association, Kontakt Collection\/WHW Akademija and ERSTE Foundation.<\/p>\n

Please note:<\/strong><\/p>\n

All applicants submit to a process in which the teachers of the chosen courses at Salzburg Summer Academy decide on the final acceptance.<\/p>\n

Applicants who have already received this fellowship in recent years or have previously participated in other educational programs supported by ERSTE Foundation like the Artist-in-Residence Programme at MuseumsQuartier in Vienna or the WHW Akademija Zagreb will not be given priority.<\/p>\n
