{"id":915,"date":"2022-08-22T08:23:25","date_gmt":"2022-08-22T06:23:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.whw.hr\/hr\/dogadjanja\/\/"},"modified":"2022-09-14T23:47:59","modified_gmt":"2022-09-14T21:47:59","slug":"konferencija-ptica","status":"publish","type":"dogadjanja","link":"https:\/\/www.whw.hr\/%dogadjanja-slug%\/konferencija-ptica\/","title":{"rendered":"The Conference of the Birds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On the waves of&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.radiostudent.hr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Radio Student<\/a>&nbsp;on Friday 19 June at 12:15, as part of a special edition of&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.radiostudent.hr\/kulturizacija-konferencija-ptica\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kulturizacija<\/a>, tune into the premiere of The Conference of the Birds, a sound collage performed by the participants of this year\u2019s WHW Akademija in collaboration with sound author and producer Ljubica Letini\u0107.<\/p>\n<p>Searching for new models of collaboration outside the gallery space\u2014which quickly became necessary because of the pandemic\u2014WHW Akademija has produced a sound collage inspired by the twelfth-century epic poem The Conference of the Birds by the Persian poet Feriduddin Attar, as adapted for the stage by Peter Brook and Jean-Claude Carri\u00e8re. The group sound performance is one of the closing gestures of this year\u2019s WHW Akademija cycle and is conceived as a joint encounter in virtual space. The poem tells the story of a group of birds\u2019 mythical quest for knowledge and truth. At the end of their journey, the exhausted birds meet their true sovereign\u2014themselves, transformed\u2014realizing that what they were searching for was already there all along.<\/p>\n<p>The sound performance is a result of intense collaboration and conversation. Along with the collective work on the text and its interpretation, the participants explored the possibilities of audio interventions, constructing a common language, and developing a space for collective action through sound. This performance is the final act of the exhibition Drei Tage bis zum Ende der Kunst by the second generation of WHW Akademija participants, curated by Ana Devi\u0107 and presented at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/galerijanova\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gallery Nova<\/a>, Zagreb.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The Conference Of The Birds\" width=\"100%\" height=\"120\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mixcloud.com\/widget\/iframe\/?feed=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.mixcloud.com%2FWHWSounds%2Fthe-conference-of-the-birds%2F&amp;hide_cover=1\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>WHW Akademija is realized in partnership with the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kontakt-collection.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kontakt Collection<\/a>, which focuses on experimental and neo-avant-garde art in Central, Eastern, and Southeastern Europe from the late 1950s onward.<\/p>\n<p>This program is presented as part of the two-year collaborative project&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rijksakademie.nl\/ENG\/home\/nieuws\/education-from-below-art-as-a-site-for-learning\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Education from Below<\/a>, organized in partnership with the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rijksakademie.nl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rijksakademie<\/a>&nbsp;van beeldende kunsten, Amsterdam, and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.macba.cat\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MACBA<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 Museu d&#8217;Art Contemporani de Barcelona.<\/p>\n<p>WHW Akademija is realized with the support of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kontakt-collection.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kontakt<\/a>&nbsp;\/&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.erstestiftung.org\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ERSTE Foundation<\/a>&nbsp;and the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ffaiarts.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Foundation for Arts Initiatives<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The program is also supported by:<br \/>\nEuropean Commission&#8217;s Creative Europe program<br \/>\nGovernment Office for Cooperation with NGOs, Croatia<br \/>\nKultura Nova Foundation<br \/>\nMinistry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia<br \/>\nCity of Zagreb<\/p>\n<p>\u200d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On the waves of&nbsp;Radio Student&nbsp;on Friday 19 June at 12:15, as part of a special edition of&nbsp;Kulturizacija, tune into the premiere of The Conference of the Birds, a sound collage performed by the participants of this year\u2019s WHW Akademija in collaboration with sound author and producer Ljubica Letini\u0107.
