The fifth edition of WHW Akademija<\/a> launches with the public program An Evening with WHW Akademija<\/em> which presents the alumni Tin Do\u017ei\u0107<\/strong> and Ivana Tkal\u010di\u0107<\/strong>. In the form of a performative lecture, they are going to discuss the connections between their works which they had identified during their participation in the second edition of WHW Akademija (2019\/2020).<\/p>\n

Entitled At a Distance and in the Middle<\/em>, the performative lecture brings together two artistic experiences and research that take us on a journey through space and time by combining two seemingly different, but correlated forms of research \u2013 wandering and astronaut training. The performative lecture is based on the experiences translated into texts that discuss the history and evolution of the universe, the cultural perspective and consequences of human action on the planet and the ecosystem. Simulating their respective journeys, the artists are going to mediate their experiences of spatial and temporal displacement. This performative lecture explores inner and outer boundaries of the universe, and the human, but also artistic desire for discovering new horizons.<\/p>\n

Tin Do\u017ei\u0107<\/strong> (Rijeka, 1989) graduated in psychology at the Faculty of Croatian Studies (2016) and in new media at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb (2016). His practice is often based on the medium of sound, and he likes exploring different media. He is interested in radio, field recording, experimental music, and multimedia installations. Some of the topics he is interested in include the materiality of media, (dark) ecology, DIY culture, Anthropocene and geology, art and science, sleeping and dreams. He has exhibited and performed his work \u2013 both solo and collaborative \u2013 in different venues in Croatia and abroad.<\/p>\n

Ivana Tkal\u010di\u0107<\/strong> (Sisak, 1987) holds degrees from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb and the Faculty of Economics and Business in Zagreb. She spent the academic year of 2014\/2015 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. She has participated in a number of projects and artistic residencies in Austria, Belgium, Greece, Norway, the Netherlands, Italy and Poland, such as 2022 EMMPOL Poland, Analog Astronaut Training Center, Poland; 2021 EthicAI=LABS, Goethe-Institut; 2019. SciArt Project, The Joint Research Centre (JRC), European Commission, Italy; 2018 Summer Session, V2_ Lab, Rotterdam, the Netherlands; 2017 NXT Residency, ELIA & Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, Austria. She attended the WHW Akademija in 2019\/2020. She has exhibited her work in a number of solo and group exhibitions. She has received several awards: 20th Radoslav Putar Award for Young Visual Artists; Grand Prix at the 35th Youth Salon in Zagreb; Erste Fragments 12; Rector’s Award, the University of Zagreb; RCAA – Young European Art Award. ivanatkalcic.com<\/a><\/p>\n
