{"id":2998,"date":"2023-01-15T13:12:14","date_gmt":"2023-01-15T12:12:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.whw.hr\/program\/\/"},"modified":"2023-02-01T18:15:35","modified_gmt":"2023-02-01T17:15:35","slug":"dear-art","status":"publish","type":"dogadjanja","link":"https:\/\/www.whw.hr\/%dogadjanja-slug%\/dear-art\/","title":{"rendered":"Dear Art"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>\u201cDear art, I am writing you a love letter&nbsp;to cheer you up and encourage you to come and visit me some time.\u201d&nbsp;<\/em>\u2013&nbsp;<strong>Mladen Stilinovic<\/strong>, 1999<\/p>\n<p>Inspired by a letter addressed to art by the Croatian conceptual artist <strong>Mladen Stilinovi\u0107<\/strong>, <strong>WHW<\/strong> presents an exhibition that questions the standing of art in the contemporary world, its reception, distribution and value.<\/p>\n<p>Through paintings, drawings, video and photography <em>Dear Art<\/em> exhibition explores everything from issues of authorship and ownership to concerns with money, poverty, manipulation and political content; the works question the relationship between art and commerce, or as Stilinovi\u0107 puts it \u2018quick manipulation, quick money, quick oblivion\u2019.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWhy do we still need art, and what is it that we expect to get from art today? What is its promise, and what do we promise it in return? And what happens when this promise is broken, betrayed, and just plain exhausted?\u201d \u2013&nbsp;<\/em><strong>WHW<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This exhibition is a new configuration of Dear Art curated by WHW, which was first organised and produced by Museum of Modern Art Ljubljana\/Museum of Contemporary Art Metelkova&nbsp; (29 November 2012 \u2013 10 February 2013).
