Art Always Has Its Consequences was created on the occasion of the project of the same name (2008-2010) organized by the center for new media_kuda.org (Novi Sad), transit.hu (Budapest), Muzeum Sztuki (Łódź) and What, how & for whom/ WHW (Zagreb). The project researched the practices through which art reaches the audience, and the significance of these practices for wider relations between art and society, focusing on four thematic areas: history of exhibitions, artists of texts, conceptual solutions, typography, and institutional
archives. The title, taken from the text Footwriting (1984) by Mladen Stilinović, proposes looking into the consequences of art in relation to reality, but also in terms of intrinsic artistic procedures according to which art is always ‘limited’ to being art.
