The work by Isidora Todorić (simple eyes)(six on each side of the head) directly responds to a found situation in front of Gallery Nova. Near Showroom of Gallery Nova there is a big concrete flower pot. Besides a chestnut tree in front of the gallery, it is the only predefined space where curated nature could be established. Recently, a specific situation – namely, the invasion of pine moth – has disturbed the little ecosystem, so due to the parasite everything that had grown in the pot had to be pulled out. This, almost invisible event, the specific circumstances of which are still a mystery, became the starting point for a site-specific project by artist Isidora Todorić. A subtle intervention in the pot sets the stage for a virtual space of her work that can be accessed via QR code. It is a semi-imagined reconstruction of what had happened that touches upon the issue of visibility, storytelling and archiving.
Isidora Todorić attends MA program in sculpture and contemporary art practice at the Academy of Visual Arts and Design in Ljubljana, where she had received BA from the Department for Video and New Media. She has spent a semester at the Academy of Visual Arts in Zagreb. Using the tactics of observing, collecting and archiving of materials found in the space where she resides, Todorić examines primary forms of society and arts.
