As part of the Erasmus+ project Fostering Creativity in Non-Formal Art Education, the WHW team, consisting of Ana Dević, Gordana Borić, and Ana Kovačić, stayed in Berlin from April 23rd to April 30th 2024. They participated in a week of peer-to-peer learning workshops, observed the work processes of their colleagues at the Neue Nachbarschaft Moabit association, and visited independent galleries and art institutions as part of Gallery Weekend Berlin.
The Neue Nachbarschaft Moabit hosted the WHW team for a dinner prepared by the Extended Kitchen community associated with the organization. On the same evening, the association’s venue hosted the opening of an exhibition by three young artists from Ukraine, Afghanistan, and Crimea: Anna Dmytrenko, Ali Shekarchi and Evelina Emir-Ali. These artists are students in the *foundationClass program at Weißensee Kunsthochschule, where Marina Naprushkina, Nadira Husain, and Krishan Rajapakshe, among others, teach.
During Gallery Weekend Berlin, notable events included the Radical Playgrounds: From Competition to Collaboration program at the Martin Gropius Bau institution, where members of the association participated in workshops, public lectures, and exhibitions, including a lecture by Madina Tlostanova titled On Feminist and Decolonial Playability. The WHW team also visited the PSM Gallery for the Buti Blossom, exhibition by artist Nadira Husain and the NGBK gallery for a guided tour of the Gastarbeiter 2.0 exhibition by Bojan Stojčić.
